Directing a 30-day Ignatian Spiritual Exercises Retreat

August 1, 2018 12:06 am

I was honored to be invited to serve as a Spiritual Director for a 30-day Ignatian Spiritual Exercises Retreat. The retreat was held at the beautiful retreat house on Mundelein Seminary outside of Chicago. I had three directees with whom I met daily for Spiritual Direction. I continue to pray for them that the graces of the summer may continue to bear fruit in their lives for the greater glory of God.

For those who may not be familiar with what Ignatian Spirituality is or what a 30-day retreat is, www.ignatianspirituality.com has quite a bit of information. Those who attended this retreat maintained silence the entire time (except for two days of repose) and had five individual 1-hour prayer periods and 1-hour Spiritual Direction daily.

Often times someone will attend a 30-day retreat when discerning a vocational call but many do so simply to grow closer to the Lord. For those who cannot commit a full 30-days, the retreat can also be done in everyday life, where one commits to one 1-hour prayer period daily over a longer period of time.

We, at Annunciation Ministries, are discerning means and ways of offering formation in Ignatian prayer for the married couples we serve. Join our mailing list to be notified of upcoming programs, resources, or retreats for married couples.
